Tonight I had a hard time focusing after Act 1. The coat rack fell on me and, while I felt fine and was able to recover quickly, it pulled me out of my work and made it harder for me to get back in it. I committed to my vocal life and character as much as I could, but I definitely was not at 100% after that incident. I bruised the bridge of my nose which was slightly sore for the rest of the show, but I wish it hadn’t affected me as much as it did. Despite this, I think the performance tonight was passable and it was a good example for me of how, even when I am feeling off or not having a perfect night, my work will still show up for me because of the time and dedication I put into completing it. So while I wish I was able to stay more in the moment and get back into it after the coat rack fell, I was able to feel proud of myself for the work I put in and the way I was able to see it come to life.
