Tonight was our first night adding costumes which is always one of my favorite nights of tech. This is the night that I feel the most like I get to play and explore within the world of the play and really develop my character more because of how the clothes change my perception. The costume also really affected how I moved, which I knew it would because how I move in a suit is very different to how I move in everyday clothes, even when I am using more dressed up versions like khakis and bomber jackets. I had already seen the rendering as well as tried on the costume pieces in fittings, but seeing it all pulled together in contrast to the other costume really changed the way I was conceptualizing myself. After putting on the costume, I was struck by how mean I looked. This was already something I had been playing with in rehearsal in my interactions with others and how seriously I take the process of the deliberation, but I think I can take it even further which is something I am excited to keep exploring as I get used to the costume more and take more chances to play and explore.
