We moved into Klein tonight!! It’s always super exciting to be working on the set for the first time, and it helps to feel so immersed in the space. There was a little bit of a learning curve with the blocking because of the space constraints of 310, but this isn’t something that particularly threw me off in rehearsal. One of the nice things about being in the space (other than getting to be more present in the world of the play) is that I’m finding I can play with my movement more because of the differences in the furniture and especially the spacing of the chairs at the table. This makes me excited for what it will be like once we get costumes and how this will affect my movement even more once I am fully in the world of the play. We also got the show cigarettes tonight and experimented with using those for the first time. The mint flavor definitely beats the accidental powder inhalation of the rehearsal cigarettes, but feeling natural with them and getting the vapor to work properly is definitely more of a challenge than I was expecting. I got the hang of it relatively quickly, but it’ll definitely take some work to get it as natural as the other one felt, especially remembering to endow it with the properties of an actual lit cigarette.
