Tonight was our designer run and I have mixed feelings about how I felt about it. I know that I was not as off-book as I aspired to be and that I didn’t do my best at staying in the moment and engaged with the action when I needed to call for a line. I also think there was a lot of pressure that I put on myself to not need to call for a line and to be more off book than I was, which in turn made me much more stressed for the run than I needed to be. This definitely took me out of the run a little bit and resulted in a performance where I know I could have done much better. I’m trying to give myself grace over having one bad rehearsal, especially as this was our first time touching Act 3 since we had blocked it and, as such, this was the first time doing it without a script. I also struggled more than I would have liked to with a lot of my lines because they are so similar in nature. A lot of my lines pertaining to asking if everyone wants to vote or trying to calm the room down and get us back on track are only slight variations of each other and I keep messing up the order or exact wording which I know is something I need to work on. I definitely need to dedicate more time to the text and getting word perfect than I have been allotting because tonight was not a run I felt very good about for my personal journey through this process.
