Today we read through the script rotating lines across the cast as a whole rather than reading our individual roles. I was nervous going into this activity for two primary reasons; firstly, this being the first rehearsal is already always a little anxiety inducing, and even more so over Zoom – especially because last summer for Murder on the Orient Express there was no big summer rehearsal, just our individual accent meetings. Secondly, I was nervous about rotating because we just recently received our scripts and I’ve not begun doing a ton of research on my character yet, which I’m excited to start doing and I was hesitant about not being able to read as a cohesive character and begin developing my story. I was already somewhat familiar with the script because I had seen the production and looked into directing it my senior year of high school, but reading through it today reignited the love that I carry for this play. I think it is so beautifully written and important to do at a time like this, especially because of the nature of social justice in today’s society. I’m excited to do more work on this play and especially develop my character. One thing I’m most interested in is my role as the jury foreman – how was I selected and what does this mean to me?
